How To Add Style To Your Look On Family Occasions

Have you felt you’ve got nothing appropriate to wear on family occasions, don’t get caught out again with these stylish ideas.

How stylish would you say you are, on a scale of one to ten?

If you’re a family man the chances are a lot of your style is locked away in your closet, behind more practical and conventional clothing.

It’s probably been a while since you had the chance to splash on some after shave and get suited and booted.

It’s no wonder really. Married life doesn’t call for a great deal of style. Between your job, the kids, and your DIY projects, it makes sense to buy practical affordable clothing that can be used time and again.

That said there are occasions that crop up from time to time when you have to dust down that old look.

Maybe a wedding or an anniversary?

Maybe you discover that old look was fine ten years ago but it feels a bit wrong nowadays. That’s because styles change, as does personal taste.

Being stylish as a working dad, doesn’t mean you have to go all out, buy a sports car, and a shiny new watch. You can do it in small, subtle, age-appropriate ways that make an impression for the right reasons.

Just because you’re living a settled life now doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it with style; and people notice when you make that extra bit of effort.

The small things do count.

Here are some simple ways to bring style to your family life on special occasions.

A Wedding

When it comes to formal occasions such as weddings nothing says style quite like oxford shoes. These classics were once only available as plain brogues but have evolved to accommodate a variety of tastes. Renowned for quality and longevity these shoes give your style a step-up.

A BBQ

A family BBQ is a fun, friendly event, but it’s also warm weather hopefully, and there’s work to be done, flipping burgers. Don’t settle for an old polo shirt and beach shorts, give the event the attention it deserves with a neat patterned shirt and pair of knee-high chinos. You’ll feel modern and practical at the grill.

A Birthday

Whether it’s your wife or child’s special day, or even your own, it’s time to show that you’re still the stylish guy from the photo album, just a few years on. There are loads of modern styles to choose from depending on your tastes and sensibility. For those with slim builds a sleek look with pants can work well. Others might prefer to go more preppy look with a light shirt and V-neck sweater.

A Graduation

If your child is graduating, it’s a proud moment for you and not one you want to forget. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and those photos will go on the wall forever. Since graduations happen in the spring and early summer, a summer or linen suit is a stylish choice for this one; it’s formal and relaxed, showing that you’re there for the celebration. Don’t overdo it on the free wine and remember to smile.
