Summary of Each Season and Episodes

This entertainment show is about a Marine Corp of the United States, Major D. John. The first season, performed in a camp set up named Camp Singleton, tells us about his lifestyle, both at work and personally.

He is a commander of a troop of soldiers who he spends time training. And while he was there, he met Polly Cooper.

They both fell in love with each other and eventually got married. Polly Cooper is a journalist by profession, and she has three daughters. They were just the opposite of each other, John was gentle and conservative, but Polly, on the other hand, was liberal and behaved naughty at times. But Major John had to learn to cope with Polly and her three daughters.

Likewise, at work, he also had some challenges working with these three people; Sgt. Byron James, Sgt. Merille Johnson and Lt. Eugene Holowachuk.these three were his fellow compatriots. So, looking at the two scenarios, he managed to cope well both at work and home.

The second season was a whole new scenario as the entire MacGillis family relocated to camp Hollister. Here, he had to work as secretary to the new commander, General Marcus C. Craig.

His funny acts, coupled with how John deals with his apparent relegation, make the show entertaining. Also, the general secretary, Sgt. Alva Bricker was brought on.

Her intolerance for nonsense and her blunt nature is what thrills most people. But with time, they all adapt and learn to deal with each other, thus making the show an enjoyable one season after season.

What Makes It Different from The Other Sitcoms?

Many things make this series stand out. First, it positively portrays the military. This is great, considering many people see the military as an overtly serious and scary place.

Also, every plot does not have all the characters lying to one another. Some characters may people deem to be excessively honest. It is certainly a great sitcom to try out if you are looking for something refreshing. The whole series is free to watch on Hulu.

Final Words

Besides the fact that the show is a source of joy to many suitors, the casts became more popular than before. They were also recognized and nominated for various awards - both the show and its actors. These awards include the Emmy award and the BMI TV award.
