4 Interesting Ways To Spend Time With Your Children

Parents spend a lot of time doing things with their children that are not necessarily adult-friendly or even remotely interesting for them. There are, however, activities that you can do with your children that will also be entertaining for you. Here are a few ideas on how you can bond and spend quality time with your children.

Take A Music Lesson Together

Studies show that learning how to play an instrument strengthens cognitive development in children. And it’s never too late for you to learn something new! So even if you are a beginner in all things music and do not know how to hold a guitar pick, taking up music classes with your child could be a way for the two of you to spend time together while developing musical skills.

Go To The Library

Taking a trip to the library together is a great way to not only encourage your child to read more and have less screen time but it costs you nothing! Most public libraries have programs and activities for your child to be involved in or you can simply check out books together. It could be a fun and rewarding experience for your child to choose their books with you and return them after having finished reading them.

Paint A Picture

Engaging your children in the arts from an early age will forever teach them to feed their creative spirit. What’s more, art projects are fun for people of all ages! Go to your local craft store and pick out a canvas and some acrylic paints and brushes. Together, you can choose the style of painting you would like to create and the colors you will use.

Before you begin painting, be sure to protect your floor and to not wear nice clothing. Then have fun with it! Feel free to splatter, toss, swipe, drizzle and free-hand as the two of you make your picture together. Once you’ve finished, you and your child will forever have a tangible reminder of the wonderful memory you made together.

Go To A Sports Game

Attending a sporting event is excellent parent-child quality time and it doesn’t have to be a pricey major-league baseball game or a college football game. If your town has a minor league or even a high school league, going to any of these events and cheering on your home team is a way for both the parent and child to enjoy themselves. It will naturally incite conversation, open up the door for questions to be asked, and even perhaps lead you to meet other parents with their children. What’s more, there’s always the promise of tasty snacks!

There are many ways in which you can spend quality time with your child while still remaining interested, these are just a few to help get you started!
