5 Things To Get The Family Dad That He’s Sure To Enjoy

It’s hard to know what to get as a gift for the dad in your family. Whether you’re the spouse, partner, or one of the kids, you might feel like purchasing the same boring ties or cologne isn’t going to cut it the next time a birthday or Christmas rolls around.

There are things you can add to your home that the family dad might enjoy very much. Since some of these are bigger purchases, all the family members might chip in if you want to get the family patriarch something more substantial than usual.

A Swimming Pool

What father wouldn’t like a private swimming pool to splash around in, especially if you reside somewhere that becomes sweltering in the summer? The family can always go to a public pool, but they are usually crowded. Besides, public pools seem to be fertile ground for personal injury lawsuits. There are seldom lifeguards on duty, and drownings happen far too often in such circumstances.

The family dad will be much happier if you can install an in-ground or an above-ground pool in the backyard. In-ground pools are pricey, and that might be more than even the whole family together can afford.

The above-ground variety of pool is much more reasonably priced, and they’re relatively easy to install. Just make sure you get a dispensation from your town or city if you need permission before setting it up.

A Toolshed

The family dad might enjoy it if you set up a toolshed in the backyard. You can sometimes get sheds completely assembled already and delivered from Home Depot or Lowe’s. If you're online and look at the options, you can probably find one that’s not too expensive.

You can also order a shed and get it delivered, but you have to put it together. If someone in the family likes DIY projects, that might be okay. These sheds can be a little challenging to erect, so be ready for that.

Once you’ve got the shed set up, the family dad should love having it there. He can keep the lawnmower in there, so he doesn’t need to haul it up from the basement or retrieve it from the garage when he’s going to use it. He can also keep gardening implements inside and whatever else he likes.

A Massage Chair

There’s nothing dad will like better than a massage chair. He might have back, neck, or shoulder pain, particularly if he works at a blue-collar job where he has to lift and carry things all day. Even sitting at a computer all day can hurt your back, though, so dads with white-collar jobs are just as deserving of this gift.

It may surprise you that some massage chairs only cost a few hundred dollars. Like a toolshed, if you order a massage chair online, you’ll need to assemble it. Still, most of these chairs don’t come with all that many components, so you should be able to put it together with few issues.

The family dad will enjoy coming home and sitting down in the massage chair so the magic fingers can do their work. It should pay for itself after just a few uses.

A Pegboard for the Basement or Garage

You might also know that the dad in the family likes tools and fixing things, but maybe the garage or the basement is a jumbled mess. If your dad has plenty of tools but doesn’t have a way to organize them, you can look into installing a pegboard the next time his birthday or a holiday is on the horizon.

A pegboard is not generally very difficult to install, and they don’t cost all that much, either. However, they are well worth it because the family dad can hang all his tools up so that next time he needs any of them, he will know exactly where they are.

A New Lawnmower

We’re right in the middle of lawnmowing season, and the family dad will probably enjoy a new lawnmower, especially if he needs to plug the old one in or he has a gas-powered version. Battery-operated lawnmowers are a much better option, and they are very reasonably priced now.

You can get a walk-behind version for a few hundred dollars, provided you don’t have a huge lawn. If you do, then the family dad might need a riding mower, which will cost you considerably more than a battery-operated one.
