6 Kitchen Hacks For Busy Dads

As a busy dad, you haven’t got time to waste messing around in the kitchen doing those tasks that just take too long, right? Right! Thankfully, there are some fantastic tips that you can use that can really help even the busiest of dads.

Speed Up your Kitchen Adventures

One of the best ways to get the most out of your kitchen is to ensure that it’s well designed for your lifestyle and for cooking the food you love to cook. Chop Veg In The Food Processor

Have you ever thought about using your food processor to chop vegetables? If you’re still chopping your carrots and onions by hand, you’re wasting valuable time! Throw them into the food processor raw and give them a quick whizz. The longer you process them, the finer they will be (great for coleslaw). This tip doesn’t work as well for onions for some reason!

Freeze Pre-Chopped Vegetables

Now you’ve got into chopping your vegetables the easy way, why not save even more time by freezing pre-chopped veg for use later? For most veg, you’ll need to blanch them in boiling water before freezing, but most vegetables are absolutely fine to freeze in a zip loc bag individually or together as part of a mixed veg medley.

Freeze Fresh Herbs In Oil

While you’re busy freezing your veg, why not freeze your fresh herbs too? One of the best ways to prolong the use of your herbs is to freeze them in oil in ice cube trays. Simply chop your fresh herbs up finely and sprinkle them in individual ice cube tray spaces and fill up with olive oil or whatever your preferred cooking oil is.

Once these little oil blocks are frozen, you can pop them out and put them in a zip lock bag to save space. Use one at a time as a bit of extra flavoring for your dinners.

Use Bread To Keep Cookies Crunchy

If you’ve ever had the kids complain that the cookies have all gone soft, your storage is an issue!

To avoid this kitchen faux pas, store your cookies with a slice of bread. Although this tip sounds a bit crazy, the slice of bread will go hard, keeping your cookies nice and crisp for a lot longer!

Avoid Dried Out Leftovers

Anyone who is into saving their leftovers will know that some leftovers warm up a lot better than others do. Simple rice and beans will reheat easily in a microwave, but anything bread-based usually goes hard and dries out fairly quickly.

You can combat this by popping a small cup of water in while you reheat your food. The water will keep the microwave humid enough so as not to dry out your leftover, leaving you with pizza that tastes (almost) as good as it did the day before!

These top tips should help transform how you cook and use the kitchen, so don’t wait a minute longer.
