Going on holiday is one of the best ways to relax, whether you’re lying on a beach or hanging out around the pool. However, there is one thing that people may not realise so much, and that is that dads can be self-conscious too.

While the ladies strut around in their bikinis, in many cases feeling self-conscious, the dads around the pool in some cases will in some cases be the most self-conscious of all – and there’s nothing to be ashamed of about it. Being the alpha male is not always easy, but when you begin to grow your dad bod, there’s some cases where you may not want to take your top off and sunbathe. However, we’ve put together a guide of how not to be self-conscious on holiday.

Groom Your Beard

If you’re looking for a way to really show off when you’re on holiday but you’re not totally comfortable, why not take away people’s eyes from your body, and to your face instead. If you’re known for having a decent beard, get it groomed and styled so you can have that ultimate Viking look to make all of the girls swoon.

One of the easiest ways to boost your self-confidence is with compliments, so if you have a compliment worthy beard on the go when you’re on holiday, then you’re certain to get a self-esteem boost, and be less self-conscious about your body.

Cosmetic Procedures

If you have something about your body that you feel really self-conscious about, and it is something that has been bothering you for a long time, then you may want to consider a cosmetic procedure. While this may seem like a more womanly thing to do, you’ll be surprised at the stats that suggest that many men also turn to cosmetic procedures in order to look and feel good about themselves, with 2015 statistics showing that out of 9% of the number of people who had cosmetic procedures that year were men – and this is continuing to grow.

If you’ve grown a bit of belly over the years, then you may be struggling with stretch marks that you could be really self-conscious about. If this is the case, then you may want to consider stretch mark removal treatment to target areas you’re less comfortable with. Whatever your worries, if they are really beginning to get you down, then you may want to consider some form of cosmetic procedure. It is important to consider downtime when booking in for any cosmetic procedure, as depending on the surgery/treatment, you may be required to take it easy and stay out of the sun for a while.

Build Your Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is something that can be learned, and because of this you may want to consider challenging yourself and nurturing your mindset before you head off on holiday, so you will ultimately feel less self-conscious while you’re out there. Practicing self-affirmations or disengaging from others’ criticism of you is a great way to help you learn who you are, and to begin to be more confident about the way you look. Focus of your children and focus on enjoying your holiday rather than worrying about the way you look.
