Oh, what a joy it would be to be six again? All the excitement of the birthday party and the presents. The jammy dodgers, the sausage rolls, the not worrying about your waistline. Not to mention the fact that children love that they're getting older and their parties are actual celebrations. That’s instead of a morbid reflection on the fact that you have one fewer years to live.

Anyway, enough of the misery. What makes the perfect birthday bash for your kids?

Let There Be Mess

Yes, it's that time of the year when we have to allow the little ones to make a little mess. I'm not sure if you've ever spent any time at a kids party, but this seems to be the primary activity anyway. So you might as well channel that energy and use it to your advantage like a true Kung-Fu master.

Having a craft party can be a fun way to make a mess. You can tell yourself it develops their "creativity" if it helps. Plus, you don't necessarily have to organise it yourself. You can hire a company like Little Squigglers to do the hard work for you. They’ll even do the clearing up afterwards.

Party Decorations

Everybody loves decorations. And decorations have a special way of making the day feel special, at least for your beloved child. I'm talking table decor, cups, straws, serviettes, balloons, streamers - the works. If you don't want to make a mess in your house, why not hire a cap marquees to keep the mess outside?

Just think about the fun you had as a kid with helium balloons. Kids today absolutely love them too. They seem to break all the rules of gravity and float upwards instead of downwards. It's almost as if they came directly out of the imagination of Roald Dahl.

The Menu

Now, we all know that it's important to do everything we can to maintain the health of our children. This is especially true as the world gets more obese. None of us wants our children to end up as portly as we are. But kids’ parties these days are nothing but an homage to modern-day obesity. So what should we do?

Have you been keeping track of the latest in healthy junk food? Well, turns out there's probably a recipe out there for your kid's favourite that avoids the bad stuff. You can make brownies out of beans, you can make pizza out of spelt and you can make carrot cake without any sugar. It seems as if anything is possible.

What's more, you don't want a bunch of hyper kids, going mad on fizzy drinks. Keep them calm with a bit of surreptitious health food.

Presents

Who could forget the main event? Presents. I think it's nice that kids are so open about always being on the take. They don't bother hiding it, like the rest of us. And as a result, they're not conflicted. To ensure no child feels left out a great idea would be to create goodie bags with These Personalised sweet bags. It will ensure your day has no tears.

If your child has a few friends, opening presents in front of everyone can be a good way for them to show their appreciation. But if there are a lot of guests, don't bother. Save time and open them afterwards.
