Showing Your Children The Ropes To Your Classics

Every generation will have its own subculture. It's common for kids to grow up playing games that their parents haven’t even heard of and vice versa. As you grow older, you’ll begin to reminisce and consider reintroducing those games to your life. If not for yourself, at least of your children. The classics that you grew up playing will be alien to your children. They’re too busy playing games like Fortnite and Call of Duty to know or care about arcade classics like Street Fighter, pinball, pong, space invaders are more. However, this is the perfect opportunity men can bond with their sons and daughters. What better way to learn about each other’s entertainment landscape than to literally dive right into it?

Present a swap challenge

At first, this is going to seem like you’re trying to be the cheesy fun dad but give it a chance. Present to your children a swap challenge. They have to get good at the games you used to play and you have to get good at the games they play. When you’re both at a great level, then the competitions begin. It's awesome entertainment for the family and you also skip a couple of generation to be closer with your kids. If they are mainly PC gamers, ask them to teach you how to play. Even just watching your kids play video games and immersing yourself if the stories are going to make you understand what it is they like. New video games have stories that are complex and they also relate to modern society. Try really hard to get to know their games and ask them to play yours too and share your opinions.

Bringing the arcade home

The classics are best played how they were played in the first place; at the arcade. Except, this time you can bring the arcade home with you. Some of them have been brought into the modern-day such as these virtual pinball games. They start at around $7,000 and they can be easily transported to your front door. They have all the unique and classic sound effects and the different kinds of backgrounds at the time of release. Other arcade classics like Street Fighter 3rd Strike are also one of the most desirable classic games to have. Air hockey is something physical that you can play at home with the kids but it's still an ‘old but gold’ game. Space invaders are one of the most iconic micromanagement games ever. This is something that will always get the whole house fired up and competitive rivalries will break out.

Don’t underestimate the board

Board games are doing surprisingly well this day and age. The classics like Monopoly are still going strong because fundamentals are still valid today. Buy a board game from your era with your children and start playing it as a family. This is something you can share with future generations as well.

Video gaming is definitely one of the best ways to bond with your children. We live in the modern era or PC gaming but you can share some of the old classics with your children too.
