What Problems Can Stress Cause?

As a father, stress can easily become something that is part of your daily life. Worrying about the kids, working out how to spend enough time with them, thinking about your career, finances, relationships… it might even be that you’re so stressed you don’t even realize it anymore.

But if that’s the case, is there really a problem? If everyone gets stressed, why is it considered so bad? Why can’t it just be part of your life and you get on with things around your stress?

Unfortunately, this is not possible in the long term, even if it’s something you try to do to begin with. Stress causes all kinds of problems and it is a recognized mental health condition. When you are feeling stressed it’s best if you can step away from the situation, or even change it entirely if that is possible, so that you can help yourself, and the others around you. Here are some of the problems that stress can cause; if you’re suffering from any of these symptoms, you should seek medical advice.

You Are Quick To Anger

When you are suffering from stress, you will feel overwhelmed. Every little thing will make you feel worse, and it could be that, as much as you try to ignore these feelings, they will escape from you as angry outbursts. As a father, this can be extremely detrimental to your relationship with your children; imagine how confused and upset they would be to be yelled at by their dad for no apparent reason.

Not only will you become angry for the smallest of reasons, reasons that, if you weren’t stressed wouldn’t even bother you, but after you have had an outburst, you will feel guilty, and the cycle will start all over again because that guilt will lead to more stress.

You Lose Your Hair

You may not have realized it, but hair loss is a symptom of too much stress. In fact, it can be one of the first signs to look out for, and if you experience more hair loss than normal when you are brushing your hair or when you’re in the shower, it could be something to look into.

Hair loss can be traumatizing to the person experiencing it, and even embarrassing, especially if you are losing so much hair that other people notice. Of course, trying to reduce your stress is a good way to help your hair, but to make it healthy again and even promote growth, using specialist hair products can be useful too.

You Can’t Relax

Relaxation is something that everyone must do in their daily lives. Trying to get through without giving yourself any time to relax, even if it’s just for a few minutes, is going to cause you more stress, and it can even lead to other health issues such as high blood pressure, insomnia, ulcers, and heart problems.

If you are very stressed, you will find it impossible to truly relax. Even sitting down with your kids to watch a movie or taking them out to the park – activities that should be relaxing and enjoyable – won’t give you a chance to rest. Unfortunately, the less you relax and the more stressed you will become.
