Your Ultimate Deep Sea Fishing Trip Checklist

Are you about to embark on a deep-sea fishing trip?

If so, you're probably wondering what you should bring with you on your trip.

While packing for any type of vacation can be difficult, packing for a deep-sea fishing trip can be extra challenging. Unlike normal vacations, you won't be able to run to the store if you forget to bring something with you on your deep-sea fishing trip.

And, due to space confinements, it's usually not a good idea to pack a huge suitcase either.

So, what should you bring with you?

Check out this ultimate deep sea fishing trip checklist to find out.

1. Clothing

The right clothes can really make or break your deep-sea fishing trip. Without the appropriate apparel, you might be either miserably cold, wet, or hot while at sea.

Here's what you should pack in terms of clothing:

●     Windbreaker: This will keep you warm during those early mornings (trust us, mornings will be cold even if you're in a warm climate) and it will protect you from sprays

●     Shorts and pants: It's best to bring shorts and pants that are moisture-wicking. This will keep you comfortable if you're sweating or if it's raining

●     Lightweight shirts: Long-sleeve shirts are ideal, as these will help protect your body from sunburn

●     Gloves: Gloves will help keep your hands protected from bad weather, line cuts, and the sun

●     Non-Skid Rubber-Soled Shoes: Sneakers usually do the trick just fine. Avoid flip flops, as this is just asking for an accident

In general, it's also a good idea to bring light-colored clothing. This is because light-colored clothing reflects the sun and helps to keep you cool.

2. Weather Protection

Seeing as you're going to be spending most of your time outside on your Gulf Shores Fishing Charter, it's important that you pack the right items to protect you from the elements.

Here's what you should pack in terms of weather protective items:

●     Sunscreen: Choose one that has an SPF of 30 or higher and that protects against both UVB and UVA rays

●     Lip balm

●     Hat

●     Polarized sunglasses: These help to cut through the glare on the water to give you a better view of your target fish

●     Waterproof jacket

●     Rain pants

3. Pharmaceuticals

We recommend purchasing your pharmaceuticals beforehand, especially if you're going fishing in a foreign country. There's a change other countries may not have the brands you like or even the exact medications you need.

Here's what to bring in terms of pharmaceuticals:

●     Small first aid kit

●     Bug spray

●     Seasickness medication

●     Hand sanitizer

4. Other Essentials

In addition to all of the above, you'll also need to bring:

●     A fishing license: Anyone older than the age of 16 must have one

●     Hand towel

●     Swimsuit

●     Camera

●     Tackle

●     Cash to pay for things on the boat

●     Gunny sack

●     Waterbottle
