It’s Daddy Time!

It's not Hammer Time, it's daddy time, and to most kids, boy or girls, spending time with their dad is something that they really look forward to. In fact, to them, it's truly golden time, and a chance to make memories and forge a bond that will last forever. But what exactly should you do in daddy time that will entertain you as well as the kids? Read on for some suggestions.

Golf

Something that many kids will appreciate is being shown the ropes of their dad's favorite sports or physical activity such as golf. Golf can work well for kids of all ages because it's a fairly gentle exercise and there is also quite a bit of skill and technique that dads can spend time teaching them.

Start with a quick visit to the driving range to ensure that they get the hang of it, and then you can build up to 9, or 18 holes. Remember to make it easier you can hire child size equipment from the clubhouse, and you may also want to invest in a cart if the kids are really small. To save their legs when walking around the course.

Crafting

Getting involved in a crafting project or activity is also a nice way to spend some dedicated daddy time with the kids. You can get them engaged in some old-school traditions like building a soap box racer in the garage. Or using woodwork to build things like spice racks and bird houses.

Or you can do something that has more of a modern twist such as upcycling some old furniture for their rooms. Really though, it probably doesn't matter too much which project you choose, as the chance to get involved with using tools, (age appropriate and while being supervised by the dad, of course) and spending time with their pop, is the thing they will truly enjoy.

Fishing

Fishing is another great activity that is perfect for spending time with the kids. Especially because there are often long periods of waiting, where you can shoot the breeze together and really find out what is going in their lives.

You don't even have to be an expert angler to take the kids fishing. Just ensure you have the basics like rods, a backpacking tent, some chairs, and supplies and bone up a bit on the right types of fishing reels, and wire to use before you go. After all, it's not catching the fish that the trip is truly about but the chance to spend quality time with the kids.

Swimming

Swimming is a pretty awesome activity for the kids to do with dad. It also gets everyone out of the house for a bit, so it's bound to please mom too!

It could be at the local swimming pool, or in wilder locations such as the beach, local lake, or pond. As long as they are designated as safe for swimming.

It may even fall to you to teach the kids to swim, something that will stand when in good stead of the rest of their life. To help with this, you can get all sort of float aids like arm bands, rubber rings, and boards. Then the kids will have something to hold on to while they practice their paddling.
